About Muhlstein CRE

Independent advice, built on the facts.

Muhlstein CRE advises owners, investors, lenders, and brokerage teams on capital markets, leasing, and development, specializing in highly technical real estate such as entertainment studios and advanced manufacturing.

Carl Muhlstein founded Muhlstein CRE in December 2023 after more than thirty years in senior roles across Los Angeles commercial real estate. Most recently he was International Director at JLL, leading the firm's international efforts from 2012. Before JLL he was Vice Chairman of Capital Markets at Cushman & Wakefield of California, with earlier senior posts at Insignia/ESG Capital Advisors and Tishman Speyer Properties.

His signature practice combines capital markets, place-making, and operating issues. He is known for identifying creative urban infill opportunities, leasing projects with high-quality tenants, and underwriting operating assets like soundstages and content-creation studios — work that often turns on public-private partnerships and land use. He advises on the facts, and is especially effective at maximizing value, or minimizing cost, when time puts an asset under pressure.

Muhlstein CRE works alongside brokerage teams, not against them. Carl has collaborated and closed transactions with senior executives at JLL, Cushman & Wakefield, Newmark, CBRE, Eastdil Secured, Cresa, Savills, LPC, Avison Young, Transwestern, and Colliers.
